The WORST thing that can happen to you!

Summers Coming

There’s NOTHING worse than getting to the beach, the wind is pumping and you have a minor kit failure that means that you can’t get out that day. So for all of you dusting off your kit and thinking of hitting the water here’s a few handy things to remember before you hit the beach.

Check your bindings and fins are properly attached to your board before you leave. Often these screws work loose and having a strap come undone on the water is a REAL pain.

Check your kite for micro tears in the canopy. If you find any these don’t need to be repaired but dab a bit of vodka on each side of the canopy around the hole to clean it, cut a small piece of kite repair tape (taking care to round off the corners) and once the alcohol has dried stick the tape on each side of the canopy. This repair should last for ages and if done properly ie. with no crinkles in the canopy, will not effect the flight characteristics of the kite.

Check your wetsuit…these can degrade over the winter especially the single skin batman style suits and for a lot of us the water can still be a bit chilly especially if you need to self rescue.

Check your safety release and your leash release before you hit the water, check they release easily and smoothly.

Any questions give me a shout and have fun on the water!!
